I am seeking information on Hezekiah HUNTER and Caroline Baumgardner/ Bumgardner and their alined families. I found Hezekiah HUNTER a couple of years ago when a woman contacted me with information on Caroline Baumgardner/Bumgardner. I believe that the Hezekiah I have record of was a brother to my Louisa Ellenor HUNTER, my great-great-grandmother. I believe Hezekiah was once married to a Caroline Baumgardner/Bumgardner and together they had at least three sons, Edward, Bedford, and William. All listed on the Butler County, Missouri census. Hezekiah may or may not have migrated to Missouri, but I find part of the family there in Butler County, Missouri. I do not know for a fact that Hezekiah was married more then once, but I read somewhere that he was married at least twice. Hezekiah could have died there in Butler County, Missouri, or left, and divorced Caroline there. The truth is, I don’t know what happened to Hezekiah HUNTER, I have so very little information on him. Caroline Baumgardner/Bumgardner was the daughter of Anthony Baumgardner and Elizabeth Davis, who were married at Hocking County, Ohio on 6 DEC 1835. As best as I can conclude from the records I have at hand Caroline was married at least three times in her lifetime, her first husband being Hezekiah HUNTER, and that she had at least three siblings, Andrew, Henry, and Ohio Bumgardner.
It seems to me that the Hunter family followed the Bumgardner family around, and this makes since, because Caroline Baumgardner/Bumgardner wife of Hezekiah HUNTER was sister-in-law to my great-great-grandmother’s, Louisa Ellenor Hunter siblings. The Bumgardner family lived at Hocking County Ohio in 1850, and the family was at Effingham County Illinois in 1860, (a full three years before my great-grandfather James Hunter was born at Effingham Illinois.) then moving on to Butler County, Missouri in 1870. My Great-great-grand mother Louise Ellenor HUNTER was born at Trenton, Butler County, Ohio.
I have been doing my families genealogical research since 1976, and since that time, I have found very little on my HUNTER family. if you have any record of the people I mention I have a great deal of tangled bits and pieces on my HUNTER family, and then again a large amount of information on the alined families, so I would be happy to share any information I have. Please tell me what you know about any of these family members, and would you please take a look at what I have been able to pull together on the Bumgardner, and Hunter families and let me know what you think. Thank You so very much for your time!
Berna David Hunter
