The Ohio House of Representivies has passed a bill to eliminate the uncertified copies of vital records. It will come up before the Ohio Senate soon.
This bill will also add a $5 surcharge to what is already charged for a certified copy (raising the total cost of a single document to anywhere between $12 and $17, depending on the agency). It would create a "certification of birth" which does not require the parents names to be listed.
There are other important changes in this bill. For more ways this bill would affect you, and your representives that you need to contact, please contact: Karen S. Smith Kay Wilson,Hocking County OGS President
