Sarah(Norton)Scott was born in Huron County, Ohio, August 11, 1819, and died at her late home in Decatur County, Iowa, February 1, 1898, aged 78 years and 21 days. She was married to Peter Scott, who preceded her in death some six years ago, in Logan County, Ohio, February 19, 1843.
To this union were born nine children, namely, Experience J., wife of James Bay, Mary, wife of Gustave Ehm, Louisa, deceased, Samuel J., Peter J., Elizabeth, wife of Allen Carpenter, Lydia, wife of J.W. Pace, Stephen L. and Louisa, wife of George Rosengrant. Six of the children reside in this county, one on the Gulf of Mexico and one in Nebraska.
Mother Scott was a faithful Christian, united with the German Baptist Church about 1863, and for a number of years was much interested in the welfare of the same. With a deep solicitude for the eternal welfare of her children, to whom her dying words were: "Meet me in Heaven".
