Yes, there are 5 Libergers on whom folks have joined DAR.But they are as follows: George, b abt 1730, d 7/1788 Henry, b 28 Dec 1759, PA; d 1820 PA Ludwick Sr., b abt 1735, PA;d 1827 Nicholas Jr., b 1754, Md; d 1836; has pension Nicholas, b 1733 PA, d bef 11 Mar 1808 PA
As you can see from the dates, it's impossible for any of these folks to have been the grandchild of any of the others.
Insofar as Ludwick Sr. is concerned, folks have joined based on their descent from the following of Ludwick Sr.'s children: Ludwick (Elizabeth) Henry (Bargara Andrew (Naomi Thompson) Daniel (Jane) John Joseph
The problem that I have is that according to the Lyberger genealogy that I have, Ludwick Sr. had two children, both of whom lived into adulthood, with the same name:Lewis sometimes called Ludwick & Ludwick sometimes called Lewis.Per the above, folks have joined based on their descent from Ludwick Sr.'s child Ludwick who married Elizabeth; that Ludwick stayed in Pennsylvania.BUT Ludwick Sr.'s child Lewis (sometimes called Ludwick) who went to Ohio and whose wife was named Mary is the child through whom my friend claims descent. There is just nothing that I can find in the Lyberger genealogy that documents the connection between this Ohio Lewis/Ludwick to the patriot Ludwick Sr.
AND it is obvious that DAR is aware of this problem.in the current online listing (available only to regents, registrars, treasurers) for Ludwick Liberger, Sr., there is this notice:"Future applicants must prove lineage of child."
I really don't know what to do.I truly, truly want my friend to join DAR; she really, really wants to.She's not a genealogist; I've spent hours and hours searching Ohio stuff when I went to Salt Lake City to the Library there on a couple of occasions, and I just can't find anything.
Believe me, I'm open to suggestions, and I appreciate your attempt to help.If you have other suggestions, I would welcome them.
