There was a Samuel Butt who, according to his headstone in Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown, Ohio, was born Jan. 14, 1777, where I don't know, but he was in Licking Co, Ohio about 1790/91 with Col. William Darke and fellow Berkeley Countians Peter Williamson, Vatchell Metcalf, Jacob Baker, and others, some of whom took part in the Battle of Fallen Timbers debacle in NW Ohio. This Samuel Butt was married at least twice.First he had at least two children in Berkeley County, VA/WV named Samuel Jr. and Mary.Samuel Jr. married Sarah Evans.Mary married Phillip Horn.Mary and Phillip Horn had a daughter named Nancy who married Casper hartsock.Casper and Nancy had many children one of whom was Ada Belle "Addie" Hartsock who married Bazil Carlton Butt, son of George William Butt and wife Mary Ann Robbins.Bazil Carlton Butt and wife Ada had 10 children I know of. Samuel Jr., Mary and families all wound up in Licking County. Then this Samuel Butt married Sophronia "Fanny" Brake who was either the daughter or sister of Abraham Brake.Samuel and Fanny had 8 children I know of, they are as follows:
Bazil Samuel Moses Samuel MD Lydia Sarah Nancy DW Mary Jane Maragret
My gr gr grandfather Bazil Butt who married Mahala Green was named guardian of a couple of the youngest children of this Samuel Butt and wife Fanny after they both died.Bazil was also named guardian of a couple of the childred on Phillip Horn and Mary Butt after they both died.
Can anyone tell me anything about this Samuel Butt, his wives, or his children?I am particularly interested in tracking down any of the 8 children of Samuel and Fanny. However, I am also intensely interested in any information at all that might add to the above.
Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to provide.
