Having done some rechecking, I need to revise my posting of two days ago: I have articles and compendium pages that back this. Owen and Robert Mc Cabe, brothers came together as stated. however, Robert went south to Virginia, not west. Owen's SON Robert from whom I descend was a shoemaker/ lay minister of the methodist faith, and lived at the time of his death in Marietta, Ohio. He and Polly (Mc Cracken) Mc Cabe (wife of this Robert) are burried there in Mound Cemetery. One of their children, Robert, went to Chicago. this Robert was Bishop Chaplin Charlie Mc Cabe's father. This Robert also was the brother of my gr.gr.grandfather Lorenzo Dow McCabe. One source points out that Lorenzo Dow Mc Cabe's nephew took time from his pursuit of an education to nurse his sick Uncle to health when he was at Ohio Weslyan. The nephew was C.C. Mc Cabe. Chaplin Charlie's father was born about 1806. He married ??? Robinson, of Belpre, Ohio. Chaplin Charlie was born at Athens,Ohio, Oct. 11, 1836. He married Rebecca Peters, another good source says his father was a merchant in Chicago. C.C's siblings LeRoy and Robert were at one time printers in Chicago. C.C. died Dec. 18, 1906 in a New York hospital.
