Nola,
I have been told that Eli Sherman was supposed to be a ggg-gg,? grandfather of mine. Also said to have been in OH.Someone with the name Sherman sent this information to me.
I was told he thought his name was Elijah Sherman and had been born 1819-1881 married twice.2 children by first spouse and 7 children by the 2nd wife the ggg?-grandmother for me.
The families I have been told were in these lines were Shaffer, Miller, Sullivan, Smalley, Garver, Foster, Kelly, Byrne/Burn, Staley, Robinson, Wagoner, Poer, Wright, Lehman,Lemon, Lemmons, Lemoyne and I have forgotten all the surnames, these are from memory and I can't find my notes.Probably still packed away somewhere.
I am interested in knowing if there is truely a Shaffer descendany in this line.It is supposed to be the line of the maiden name of my grandmother.I have a picture of Grandma and her parents, but no given name is given for my g-grandparents so it is difficult to trace a family not knowing their name.
Do you know of a Benjamin H Shaffer and a Leah/Leigh/Lydia Shaffer b c. 1857?I hae already heard there is a Hiram in the line, so I think that may be what the H is for.Name is still carried on in the family.
I don't know from where my g-grandparents came or lived, but Grandma lived in OH after going to MO with her groom to marry.
Help please.
