I am told that Richard Russell's name appeared in the 1860 census of Zanesfield in Logan County. He was living with his wife Permelia and his son Edson who was a tailor. In 1850 Richard hadbeen listed in Morrow County, before that in Delaware County. He was born in New York about 1791 and probably married Permelia there. Her maiden name wasDeuel/Duel, daughter of Ebenezer Deuel/Duel. I have found Richard and Ebenezer in the early census reports of Washington County in New York. I descend from their son Seneca Russell.
I am seeking a date for Richard's death and the names of his parents. Permelia probably outlived him. Richard probably died in Zanesfield. I find Permelia later in the census reports of Whiteside County in Illinois with her son Seneca and without her husband. Is there an obituary for Richard?Any cemetery inscription?I have combed the web sites with no results.
If anyone has the 1860 census, could you tell me who Richard's neighbor's were?He might have settled near other Russells who were relatives.
This Russell family moved often.Permelia came from old Quaker stock, and I wonder whether Zanesfield had a Quaker settlement that would draw her to the town.I suspect that Richard also came from old Quaker stock, but I think that he was not a practicing Quaker.
