Frank Marren and a number of his family members are buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Carlisle Township. The cemetery is located on the west side of State Rt. 57, one mile north of Grafton, Ohio.
The information below was taken from the book "Cemetery Inscriptions of Lorain County, Ohio", published in 1980. The information is:
Frank C. Marren 1857 - 1949
MARREN Mary, sister, 1854 - 1881 Mary Billings, died May 7,1947, age 70 yrs. Johnnie, brother, 1864 - 1897 John, 1821 - 1906 Jane, mother, 1834 - 1913 Mary, died 1890 Mary, Sept. 2,1882 - June 3, 1885, age 3 yrs. Johnny, Sept. 12,1880 - June 3,1885, age 5 yrs. Annie, Aug. 30,1878 - June 3,1885, age 7yrs.
A total of ten family members. It appears that some type of accident or disaster happened June 3, 1885, when three small children died the same day. Do you know what caused their deaths? The Elyria Constitution newspaper from that time period is on microfilm at my local library. My guess would be that there may be some mention of the deaths in the newspaper. Would you like me to check the newspaper microfilm the next time that I am at the library? Something else that is strange, is that I could not find anyone with the surname Marren in the Lorain County census index for 1880. Is it possible that they were living in another county?
Hope this information is helpful. Regards -- Richard
