His obituary was in the Elyria Chronicle Telegram, a local newspaper, on May 3,1965.
LOUIS ACKERMAN Lorain - Funeral services for Louis Ackerman 95, retired Lorain coal dealer will be tomorrow at 2 pm at the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home with Rabbi Samuel Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Ackerman, who lived at the Jewish Orthodox Home 736 Lakeview Ave. Cleveland, died Saturday at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Cleveland.
Mr. Ackerman was born Dec. 24,1869, in Hungary and came to Lorain from McKeesport, Pa.. He was a member of Agudath B nai Isreal Temple.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Blanch Reisman of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Helen Jay of Cleveland, six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The October 9,1909 issue of The Lorain Times - Herald newspaper, has an account of the death of Harry Ackerman, who died from a fall from a telegraph pole. The article states that apparently Harry was climbing to the top of the pole for some reason, when he came into contact with a live wire which shocked him, and threw him 40 feet to the ground. The accident occurred about 7pm October 8th, and he died from a crushed skull, two broken arms, and a fractured leg, at 9:30am October 9th.
The article also mentions that he will be the first person interred in the new Jewish Cemetery.
Louis, Lena, and Harry are all buried in Salem Cemetery, located on the north side of State Rt. 254, in Sheffield, Ohio. The information from the markers is:

Louis Ackerman is also listed as living in Lorain during the 1920 and 1930 census enumerations. Undoubtedly a check of the census information would reveal more information, such as year of immigration, wife's nationality, etc..
