A notice of the death of Nathaniel Kipp was posted in the Elyria Chronicle Newspaper published April 28, 1904. Apparently the cemetery transcription which gives his date of death as August was incorrect --- perhaps just an error, or the incised information on the stone may have been eroded. If you wish, you can get an actual copy of the complete newspaper article by contacting the Elyria Ohio Public Library. They have the newspapers on microfilm. The factual items in the obit, which may be of interest to you are as follows:
Nathaniel French Kipp was born at Canton, St. Lawrence County, New York on February 19, 1826. He died in Eaton Township, one mile south of Fields' Corners, on April 24,1904. He married Ann Sharp at Eaton on December 17,1851. They had four children, two sons and two daughters. The daughters, Mrs. Abram Dimaline, of LaPorte, and Mrs. Alfred H. Low, of Eaton, along with his wife, survive him. The two sons having died some years previously.
The obit contains a few additional details of the funeral, but the above facts are the basic genealogical facts contained in the obit.
The following week, the family published a card of thanks in the same newspaper, thanking everyone for their kindness during the time. I mention this only because the card of thanks, is signed by three persons, the widow and her two daughters. The surnames of the two daughters in the card of thanks differ in spelling slightly from the names contained in the original obit. The card of thanks gives the names as:
Mrs. Alfred H. Lowe Mrs. Abram Dimoline
I would guess that the surname spelling in the card of thanks, is the correct spelling.
