Through more intensive research on my great-grandfather Frank Joseph Badstuber of Cleveland (1879-1968), I had come to learn that his brother Frank Xavier Badstuber of Toledo had died in 1950.
Both were born in Immenried, Wurttember, Germany and they both emigrated to America together arriving on May 12, 1893 aboard the ship "Werkendem".On the ship's roster Frank Joseph is listed as "Franz Badstuber age 14" (b.1879) and Frank Xavier is listed as "Xaver Badstuber age 17" (b.1876).Frank Joseph stayed in Cleveland with their father Frank Karl and his brother Max, while Frank Xavier settled in Toledo.
Because they were both named Frank (as was their father), this has confused some people doing genealogical work and my great-grandfather Frank Joseph is confused with Frank Xavier in such sites as World Family Tree and GenCircles.
Recently, I received a copy of the Badstuber Family Record from the Standesamt in Germany, and written lightly in pencil beside the entry for "Franz Xaver" in the column marked "Tod: Ort, Tag und Jahr" was written "1950 in Amerika".I had know prior to my research through my grandmother that her uncle was in Toledo, and I have confirmed with Toledo City Directories that he was there in 1941 (the last year available that I could check)
Because Frank X. Badstuber most likely died in 1950, his death is not listed through Ancestry.com or through the Ohio Online Death Index.
Therefore, I am seeking the help of someone in the Toledo area who has access to microform and an index of death notices/obits that covers 1950 and also be able to provide me with a photocopy.I am more that willing to reimburse copy and postal charges.I live in Wisconsin and regrettably, the Wisconsin Historical Society does not have the Toledo Blade on microfilm for the year 1950.
He would most likely listed simply as "FRANK BADSTUBER" (without the "X.").His wife's name was Mary and he had two daughers: Helen and Marguerite.
