This letter was found tucked into the pages of a bible. The bible was among items owned by Harriet Jane Ross Cox. Who was also married to Charles Jameson of Ohio and perhaps to a Pat Patterson or something that sounds close to it.Please help locate "Joe". Thank you, S. Sumpter
June 30, 1965 Granite City, Ill
Hi Honey, Didn't pick up any mail untill last weekend as I went out of town fishing with a guy from work the weekend before. I'm staying over at a motel outside of Granite City.
Not much new out here only it's been damm (damn) hot and plenty of rain with it.
I don't know what to say about not writing to you but I think we should call our deal off, I don't think either one of us would be happy together as I like to roam around too much.
I really haven't mde up my mind what I'll do but I promice I'll try to take care of myself you really don't (over)
have to worry about me.
I'm sending you ten dollars this time as I had to pay the light bill which was around 14.00 for that month (??) in the trailer.
I haven't heard anything from toledo but I'll most likely go back there over the 4th My Dad has been sick and I'll try to see him and stay at my Moms for a day or two.
I haven't heard anything from Dick as yey but expect a letter any day now.
So honey, take it easy, be good and take care of yourself and I'll pay back the money I owe you.
