Looking for any information on William Paine and his wife Margaret Speakman.William and Margaret were married in 1832 in Ross Co., Ohio. After that, William disappears and I can't find a death record or divorce record for him.Margaret Speakman Paine lived in London, Madison Co.On the 1840 census, I found a Margaret Payne in London, with two young boys. However, I know she had more that that by 1840.In 1850, she has more children. There is never a mention on any census of William Paine, yet she still has more children. In 1880 she is listed as a widow.Did William finally die so she was free to list herself as a widow, or did she just call herself a widow because there is no man around and she never married again? Her children are:Elizabeth, b. 1832 (she had two illegitimate children prior to marrying Mortimer Carey); Minor Paine (m. Eliza Ann Clemmons)b. between 1836-1839; Bushrod b. 1840 m. Margaret Kennelly); Minerva Jane (my ancestor, married Samuel Roadarmer) b. 1842; Augustus/Gustavus b. 1846 (married Lizzie Wagner); Ann b. 1840 (married Owen Hartnett); John Paine (except for his metion in Margaret's obit, I am questioning if this is her child or one of her daughter Elizabeth's children); Jesse Paine (never married, also could actually be one of Elizabeth's, he was born in 1852); In the 1860 census, there are two Elizabeth Paine's living with Margaret, on 17 and one 19; one is her daughter, I know; I don't know who the other Elizabeth Paine is.I think the 19 year old is the daughter, and John is listed as 6 months and is listed right after Elizabeth.Again,if William is gone, where do all the children keep coming from?Who are the two Elizabeths? All of the names mentioned are listed as Margaret's children in Margaret's obit, but I really think that John and Jesse are Elizabeth's, not Margaret's.Any help greatly appreciated, I'd love to find a death record/burial record for William (of course, then who would be the father of all these children?)Thanks!
