Thank you Kaye. I believe we have that information, but will double check at our library. Your local DAR had him listed as a Rev. War veteran from CT. When I asked for a source and who provided the information, no one seemed to know about it. I have been to the DAR national library in Washington,D.C. and they have no record of him.
Some of the information is in the "Pioneer Women of the CT. Western Reserve" for Elizabeth Calaway. We also saw an obituary for her daughter that told a little about the mother Elizabeth. We are almost to the point where it will take contact with a living descendant that has a bible record or hand written genealogy. If we knew where he came from to Westmoreland Co.,PA we might get clues on James Reed. If we knew a church or other record of his marriage to Elizabeth. Witnesses or signers to the document may also provide clues. We have made contact with the Calaway Family Association but they are at a loss too.
If we knew what church she was a member of in Canfield they may have some helpful record on her. One of her grandsons was named John Calaway Reed, but concentrating on John Calaway has yielded nothing either.
