Samuel Herb Salome, 85, retired veteran fruit market operator died at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 14) at his home, Putnam ave after a lingering illness. He had been in failing health since May 1959. Mr. Salome was born July 15, 1882 in Bludan, Syria, a son of Samuel H and Mary Salome and came to Zanesville at the age of 14. He owned and operated the Linden Fruit Market for many years and prior to retirement in 1959 had operated a stall at the Market House for 50 years. Surviving are his widow, the former Tillie Elizabeth Helbing; three daughters, Mrs. William (Helen) Larrick of Eppley ave., Mrs Edgar (Betty) Howell of Indian St. and Miss Ruth Salome of the home; two sons, Samuel Albert Salome and Samuel Abraham Salome both of Middletown; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Rose Kabbjey of Bludan, Syria. Two sisters and three brothers are deceased. The body was taken to the Putnam Chapel of Bolin Funeral Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday 15 Nov. 1967 Zanesville Times Recorder Zanesville Ohio.
