JOHN CURTIS PARSONS was born in Pickaway County, Ohio, July ll, l854, and was killed in an accident near Garden Grove, Iowa, August l3, l923. His age was 69 years, one month and 2 days. His parents were MR. and MRS. THOMAS PARSONS, of Ohio. He was married to SARAH HOLLAND, daughter of MR. and MRS. M. HOLLAND, then of High Point, Iowa, in l887 and to this union were born ten children, six girls and four boys, all of whom are living. These residing at Omaha, Neb., are MRS. ETTA RAIN, MRS. MARY THOMPSON and MRS. ORA HILL; MRS. ISAAC MANCHESTER and LEE and THOMAS PARSONS, reside at Leon, and MRS. LEAH BLANCHARD, at Des Moines and ROY and MRS. OLLIE WATSON, at Garden Grove, and OSCAR lives in Colorado.
MR. PARSONS has lived in this community for a generation and is widely known throughout Decatur County. His vocation was that of farmer, living at the time of his death about three and a half miles southwest of Garden Grove. He was generally respected as a good neighbor in his community and also had the reputation of being a most reliable workman and a man upon whom confidence, trust and dependence could be placed. His sad death will be regretted by many friends and relatives in this section as well as by his surviving wife and children.
The funeral service was held at the M.E. Church, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Andrew and the body laid to rest in the Garden Grove Cemetery.
