I recently discovered an old letter from my ggrandfather, Frank SAPP. He briefly describes his genealogy. Here is a transcription of his letter. He describes his father's( Balser SAPP) birthplace, parents, and siblings:
"About my father's people I do not know very much. My father's name was Balser Sapp. He left home at the age of 13 or 14 years of age. He was born in Ohio, Portage County on the banks of a lake called Sapp's Lake. November 20, 1828. His father's name was Jacob Sapp. His father and grandfather were born in Pennsylvannia and greatgrandfather was born in Holland. My father had five brothers and six sisters. Boys[,] Jim, John, [Balser] Williams, David, George the last three were born after Dad left home he never saw them. Girls I can only remember the names of two[:] Elizabeth and Susan. Susan married a man by the name of Knufflock. First name I don't remember. They lived in Goodard, Kansas. Had a store.
I met a man in Oregon about 1896 by the name of Walgamut who lived next to Dad's people in Ohio. He told me more about Da's people than Dad did. My grandmother's name was Rebecca didn't know her last name."
I am unable to find a Sapp's Lake. Does anyone know what this lake might now be called?
