If you are interested, I can scan the pension file document pertaining to Alex's birthplace. Also, did you know that his birth year is different?Alex claimed it was 1840, but because he wanted a pension and didn't have the proof to when he was born (no Bible or birth record), he settled on the government's claim of 1841.I believe there is another pension document stating this as well.
Let me know if you are interested in either of these.I tried emailing you at your personal email but it came back undeliverable.Perhaps I copied the email incorrectly.
Please tell me about the Kings. Were they Quakers? Were they a wealthy family?I'm hoping details about the Kings can help me assess the Pryfogles and Coulters better.
From my research it appears to me that the Pryfogles were rather poor, or at least Alex's parents were. They moved a lot, presumably trying to find a better life.Alex's father Solomon apparently alienated himself from his family as other Pryfogles had no idea Solomon existed.
The Coulters didn't seem to be quite as bad off as Solomon Pryfogle.Catherine's father Alexander Coulter (namesake of Alexander Pryfogle?) owned land when he died, the proceeds of which apparently financed the moving around. But George got into legal trouble in Illinois and went back to Ohio. His two sisters' families (Pryfogle and Davis) and his brother followed. It's an interesting puzzle to try to solve.
