My husband's ancestor was a John Lewellen who came from Scotland to VA, then to Ky, then to OH in 1806/9.He had 10 children. One was Martha Lewellen who married Thomas Murray.Martha was born about 1788.You could very well be a cousin. At the time of John's death, listed in his will are the sons Thomas, Philip, Samuel, John L., Dennis, and Daniel. The daughters are Martha Murry, Caty Mary, and Sarah Truas.I have some of the sons's marriages:Philip married Anna Runion, Jan 5 1815; Thomas married Polly Crane Jan 16, 1816; Samuel married Polly Welsh Jul 9, 1818. In the 1850 census of Preble Co., in Gasper Twp. Lewellen, John 31 m O farmer 400, Lavina 29 f O, Francis M. 7 m O, Mary Ann 4 f O, and James 30 m O laborer. Also:Lewellen, Denis 26 m O carpenter, Letha 25 f O, and Sarah 2 f O in Somers Twp.In Dixon Twp.: Lewellen, Bafford 30 m O farmer 150, Nancy 29 f Va, Caroline 26 f O, and Elizabeth 11/12 f O.Also in Dixon Twp.:Lewellen, John L. 48 m Ky farmer 1400, Charity 56 f NC, Marthat 21 f O, Lucy Ann 20 f O, Mary Ann 16 f O, and Clark 15 m O.Again in Dixon Twp.:Lewellen, Lucy A. 19 f O living with Marshall, Jacob 80 m Md farmer 4000, Rebecca 70 f Md, Jacob 25 m O farmer, and Mary 5 f O.That is all I can tell you right now with only my own records and the 1850 census.Hope this helps.I am sure you are one of the ancestors of John Lewellen and Catharine DuVall.I might be able to check when I go again to the library. Will let you know if I find out anything more. I did not notice a Shannon in the 1850 census, so her parents are somewhere else probably. Will see what I can find.
