Urban W. Welsch, 80, of 214 South Diamond St. died Saturday evening at Mansfield General Hospital after a two-year illness.
Born in Gibsonburg, O., June 26, 1896, he came to Mansfield in 1917. He was an engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad for over 47 years. Mr. Welsch was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.
He is survived by one son, William U. of 814 Dresden Dr.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Katherine Warden of Perrysville and Mrs. Patricia Ann Nichols of Mansfield; three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Edythe Imhoff of Mansfield. His wife, Katherine died previously.
Friends may call at the Geiger-Herlihy Funeral Home this evening from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. The vigil services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.
