My gggg-grandparents, John and Margaret Reiley/Riley moved to Ross County in 1808. The had three children, Mary Dye (child of Margaret's by first marriage), Hannah Reiley and son Dusosway Reiley.
Dusosway married and then moved his family to Iowa. Mary Dye married Jesse Wiley and remained in Ross county until her death. Hannah Reiley married David Baird Chamberlin.
I would love to hear from any descendants of these folks, and am interested in talking to anyone who might have a family bible or other family papers in their possession.
According to information from Hannah Reiley Chamberlin's obituary of 1876, when her father moved to Ross County:
"In 1812 he bought a little lot at the junction of the Frankfort and Lebanon road, three miles west of Chillicothe, where still stands the building he erected, and which during many years was known throughout all the western settlements as Reily's tavern. Here also was one of the preaching places of the Methodist church when a church building was unknown in that region. At this place also the Methodist circuit preachers spent their day of rest, when to ride a circuit was real labor."
If anyone has ever come across any documents that mention this tavern, I would love to hear from you!
