I posted a message on the Gen Forum for Scioto and Jackson County Ohio.I was looking for information on my g-g-g-grandfather Andrew James Smith. You posted a message for me and I am just now getting back to it and finding what you posted.I would love to see if what you have on yours could show some relationship to my line.Sorry I am so late getting back to it.My Andrew James was born in Kentucky in 1811 but I am not sure which county.I have been told that his father's name was Andrew Also, but I am not totally positive about this, pretty sure but not positive.I know that he was maried in 1833 in Jackson County Ohio to Eleanor Mackley daughter of John and Mary Mackley.I also know he purchased land in Jackson County Ohio 1 Aug 1837.On the land deed it said he was from Scioto County. He had a brother named John that was born about 1790 and another brother named Thomas born about 1803.When I was trying to find the county in Kentucky where he was born, I looked in the 1810 census records for an Andrew Smith (his dad).I found four, one in Wayne County, one in Fayette county, one in Madison county and one in Lewis county.I have almost proven that the ones in Wayne, Fayette and Madison County are not the right ones.So I have been searching in Lewis county. In the process I found that Lewis county is right near Scioto County Ohio.I also found a John and a Thomas Smith in Scioto County Ohio in 1830, but I am not sure if these are his brothers. So this is giving me more thoughts that he was born in Lewis county Kentucky.
My Andrew's sons names were Henry, John (after Eleanor's father and James (which was another name Andrew James went by). This is why I amy questioning if Andrew James'father's name was Andrew or Henry.Maybe his grandfather's name was Henry.Anyway, with this information, does any of it maybe connect with the Smith line you have in Scioto and Jackson Counties.I know there was a James Smith that livedin Jackson County with his family and hedied there. One of his sons names was Harper.I do not if they were related to my Smith's or not.I do know tha Andrew James and Harper purchased their land in Jackson County on the same day in the same place.I am not sure if they were family or not.
So if you have any information you could help me with I would greatly appreciate it.
