Thank you for posting information on the family of Nancy Worley.I believe her husband, Horatio Burress/Burriss and my g-grandmother, Lucinda Burress, were brother and sister. On May 31,2004 I visited Vaughter's Cemetery and copied the inscriptions from the following gravestones:
JOHN, SON OF, Horatio & Nancy, BURRISS, DIED, July 3, 1853, IN HIS 14th, YEAR. (His stone was crooked and was being braced by another stone probably his footstone.)
MATTHEW, Son of, Horatio & Nancy, BURRISS, DIED, Dec. 8, 1850, aged 15 yrs,& 6 mos & 11, days. (Footstone: M. B.)
NANCY, wife of, H. BURRISS, DIED, Nov. 4, 1850, IN HER 42d YEAR. (Footstone: N.B.)
In Memory of, the daughters of Horatio, & Nancy Burriss, Mary aged ___, and 9 months, Sarah aged ____ years, and 3 months. (Double stone and double foot stone:M.B. & S.B.) I could not read the age for either girl and there was no death date that I could see.
In Memory of, JOHN WORLEY, WHO DIED, Jan 16th, 1840, Aged 72 Years & 4 Months (Stone in the bushes).
Joseph Worley's stone is next to John's.I didn't make notes of his inscription.
