James E. Hughes James Edward Hughes, 60, of Haverhill, section laborer for the Norfolk & Western Railway died at 12:45 p. m. Tuesday at his home. He has been ill since February of a heart ailment. Mr. Hughes was born Aug 16, 1879, at Ohio Furnace, a son of Miles and Hannah Jane Doty Hughes. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rosa Besco Hughes, and these children; Miles Hughes of Ironton, Eugene, James Jr. and Sarah Jane Hughes at home. He also leaves two brothers and two sistors: David Hughes of Hunter. N. D., John Hughes of Nathan City, Ia., Mrs. George Seeler of Ohio Furnace and Mrs. Elizabeth Graff of Haverhill. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. in. Friday at Haverhill Methodist church, with Rev. Fred Rice officiating. Burial will be in Vernon cemetery under thedirection of McCurdy and Scott. The body is at the residence.
