Thank you for the information, Kate. That must make life "interesting" for the folks who live there. The information about Lewis's death came from the Bible pages I have, and have been verified by a descendent of Lewis, but for the life of me, I just can't find Isaac (except in the Civil War where he died in 1864 or 1865 in Vicksburg or Andersonville (different information on two different documents. The Bible pages said Lewis Hemminger was Ella May's uncle. At first I thought Lewis and Isaac had to be brothers, but quickly realized Lewis could have been Isaac's uncle since, in those days, women had babies for a longer period of time in their life than they usually do now.
I have found a few Isaac Hemmingers, but they aren't related to Lewis and the dates don't fit.I though the name Hemminger would be an easy find, but didn't know how common it was.
Again, thanks for the information.I'll certainly put it with the family genealogy information I have on the Hemmingers.Seems like one bit leads to a dozen questions (like why did Lewis live in Ohio and Isaac in Bangor Twp. Michigan and who left where?Did Isaac move from Ohio to Michigan where he met and married Mary Jane Craft, or did Lewis move from Michigan to Ohio where he met and married Caroline Hilt? And where is Sherlocke Holmes when you need him?
