In the midwest, a county was planned to be somewhat square during original creation. A county was divided, if possible, into townships in a size 6 by 6 creating 36 townships. Those townships were then split into 36 sections. The Union cemetary is in section 5 of the Weatherfield Township. Government wise it is larger than a city but smaller than a county, even though large cities can be in multiple townships or counties. Most townships have an administration office for water/sewage billing and records. Weathersfield Township contains Niles and Mineral Ridge and is on the Mahoning County border.
