The saddest cemetery I have ever had the expereince of visiting. It was on the river behind the Red Cross building when we were there in 1986.
The soldiers burial cite is to the right and the orderly graves are there under the trees. I didn't go into that part of the cemetery but looked at it from the more open part of the cemetery. The slabs used for markers appear to come from the river bed. It was very neglected at the time. We had to cross a fence to enter and the fence was down.
It is the only cemetery I have had that peculiar feeling in.
Strange, I was just thinking about that cemetery. Pioneer certainly describes the setting.
