I found the following information about Ziba Casterline in the historical collection of bazetta township Cortland, Ohio by Thomas J. Kachur.
Dr. Ziba Casterline was born in Washington County, Pa. July 20, 1903.He died at the
home of his sister, Anna Hathway of Bazetta, on March 27, 1874. at the age of 70.He
was married to Catherine Elwell, Feb. 23, 1836, in Franklin County, Indiana. They were
the parent of nine children, seven sons and two daughters.Three of the sons died in
infancy. He was a learned physician, an accomplished scholar, and a man of genius and
oratorical talent. He graduated from Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1838.He was actively identified with earliest anti-slavery movement. He made the first speeches on the subject in Franklin County at a time when it was considered to require great courage to do so.His wife died in 1859.He remarried, but the marriage was not a successful one.He joined the arm August 1862 and resigned after one year due to ill health.A son, John P. Casterline, died Nov. 23, 1909 at his home in Albany Ind.
