Hi Charlotte Recently we found 3 old tax records books (1836, 1838, 1839) in the books at the Records Dept, Hocking County. At that time Swan and Jackson Townships were in Hocking County. I am typing and copying the books so they can be put out for public usage. As you can imagine they are very fragile.
Thenews for you is that I have Isaac Hawk listed in 1836 in Jackson township. He owned property. He and Jacob are listed as owning horses and/or cattle.Isaac is listed as owning more property in 1838, and he and Jacob have taxable chattle again. In 1839 Isaac, Jacob (something I haven't deciphered- 3rd? B?, and and another Hawk (another hard to read name--Jraice, ?raice) owned property , only Isaac and Jacob are listed as having taxable goods. Hope this helps you find them easier. They should be in the Hocking County census records for that time. Kay Wilson
