Per 1880 Census for Salem, these were children of John and Mary (Sparks) Bowser.
Mary Sparks, b. 1843.She married John Bowser probably early 1860’s and had children: Henry, Lauren (or Lawrence), Hiram, Cortland (Cort), Theodore (Ted), and Sigourney.
I may not have the story exactly right, but Mary and her children formed some kind of little music group (violins maybe?) and were quite popular in the area.
Mary Sparks Bowser was the half-sister of my great-grandmother Eliza Elnora Smith and their mother was Rhoda Ellen Baldwin, who married 1) a Mr. Sparks, and 2) Joshua T. Smith.
I would welcome information on how I might contact descendants of the above-named Bowser children, who were half-first cousins of my grandfather.
I'm also searching for their grandmother (and my 2nd great-grandmother) Rhoda Ellen Baldwin Sparks Smith. She was born in Warren Co OH and might have moved back there (as a widow Smith, possibly) before 1860.
