Our thanks to Warren County Genealogical Society volunteer, Larry Collins, who has photographed all extant tombstones at the Mounts Cemetery in Hamilton Township. His photos of the tombstones in this small graveyard surrounded by private property are now on line at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwarren/Cemetery/mounts/index.htmhttp://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwarren/Cemetery/mounts/index.htm
The cemetery is located on what was originally a 900 acre tract of land known as Mounts Station that was settled in the fall of 1795 by William Mounts and others. This is thought to be the earliest known permanent settlement in Hamilton Twp. William Mounts and his wife Catharine Elizabeth (Watson) Mounts are said to be buried here in ummarked graves.
If you have any old photos of this cemetery, or know of additional burials in this cemetery, please consider sharing with us.
