General John Rea McQuigg was born in 1865 in Wooster, Wayne Co, Ohio. The son of Samuel McQuigg and Jane McKinney. Grandson of John McQuigg Sr. & Sarah McAfee of Wooster, Wayne Co, Ohio. Great grandson of William McAfee Sr. & Margaret "Martha" of Dalton, Ohio.
He served in the Spanish American War & WW1. 1925 National Commander of the American Legion 3 term Mayor of East Cleveland, Ohio Ran for US House of Representatives. Commander of the Ohio National Guard. Commander of the Cleveland Grays. Lawyer, banker. His wife, Gertrude Imgard, daughter of August Imgard of Wooster, Ohio, who brought the 1st decorated Christmas tree tradition to the USA.
