Just dropped in to Way Library to pay a 20 cent fine and since it is National Library Week I ended up walking out the door with a freebie, Perrysburg Revisited by Ardath Danford.
In it is listed:
First Methodist Church 1819-continuing (last minister listed was Robert L. Knell 1991)
Ministers for the year: 1879-1881W. A. Yinging 1882J. L. Scott 1883-1884William Scoles 1885-1889George B. Wiltsie 1890-1893John C. Shaw 1894-1899David H. Bailey 1899-1902Daniel Stecker
There was also a German Methodist church to which they joined in the early 20th century with the First Methodist Church.
Ministers found to have served the German M. E. Church were:
Revs. C. Swineforth (1863-65), John C. Egle (1872), D. Matani (?-1878), Daniel Volz (1878-80), H. Krill (1880-82), John Ficke (1882-84), Jason C. Sinclair (1884-86), Jacob Lenk (1886-89), George Wohl (1889-?), and J. Braun (1898).
Walnut Street Presbyterian Church (1878)
There was the First Presbyterian Church which opened on May 15,1892 served by a minister by the name of George A. Adams.
The Grace Evangelical United Brethen Church had services started in 1836-1959 until a new church was built and continues.
Some ministers who served from 1870 thru 1901 include: John Plantz, William Wonder, G. Hassenpflug, C.A.Munk, B. E. Schubert, F.R. Totheroh, daniel Strohman, J. S. Fitterer, H. C. Berger, D. Stull, H.C. Berger, J. J. Bernhart, J.N. Steffani and W. A. Shisler.
There is the Zoar Lutheran Church to which C.F.Kaeding served from 1864-1896 and then by C.S. Ide
And last but not least is St. Rose Church of the Catholic faith.There have been less major church buildings at various locations in and around Perrysburg and the Perrysburg township and the priests who have served are the following: 1863-84 Charles Griss, 1885-1894 Gustave Reiken.
