I am the Historian of the Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of West Missouri, Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, located in Kansas City, Missouri.
For the last six years, I have been involved in the research of the history of the five buildings which comprise the current Cathedral Complex, and the memorial gifts in the Nave of the Cathedral.
The last building constructed at the Cathedral was completed in 1999.The foyer of the building is dedicated to a woman who was the granddaughter of Henry Joseph Latshaw (1835-1906).His father was Peter Joseph Latshaw (1806-1881).When Henry was four, his mother died.In 1843, Peter Latshaw married a second time, to a woman named Fatina Josephine Rich Quade (b. 1818).This was her second marriage, also, as her husband, Christopher Quade died in 1842 in Ohio. She had two children, one son and one daughter, with her first husband. With Peter, she had three sons and a daughter. When Peter died, he was buried in historic Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ohio.
We lose track of Fatina after she was enumerated in an 1885 state census in Rice County, Kansas, where she had gone to live with one of her sons by Peter. That son later moved to be with his son in Springfield, Missouri, and is buried with his son there.
There are no records of marriage or death for Fatina in Rice County or in any of the surrounding counties in Kansas. There are no death or marriage records for her in Springfield/Greene County, Missouri.
Fatina is not buried with her first husband, but since there were married for roughly five years, that is not surprising. She is not buried with any of her children by either husband. We are told that Fatina is not buried with Peter, but, since they were married for almost 40 years, and I cannot locate her in any cemetery with family members, I am beginning to wonder if perhaps the records of Oak Grove are deficient, and they simply fail to list the fact that Fatina is buried next to Peter.
At any rate, I would very much like to visually confirm that by asking for your assistance in viewing Peter's grave to see whether or not Fatina is buried next to him.I have not been able to secure any assistance from the cemetery in this regard.
Would someone be willing to assist me with this, please?
