In fall of 1893, my gggrandfather, John White MYERS, and a son, Perry Cale MYERS, went to participate in the landrush to claim homesteads. In Oct 1893, Cale's little daughter, Blanch MYERS, age 3mos. died and was believed to have been the first death recorded in Pawnee. My gggrandfather and another pioneer to the area, a MR. LANE, operated a freight wagon line from Pawnee to Red Rock.Would they have had to apply for a business license?Where would I check for a possible copy of such license? Most of John White MYERS family members are buried in the family plot at Highland Cemetery at Pawnee. He had one son, Lewis, killed in a cave-in during the construction of a bridge east of Pawnee in 1903.He also had a grandson, Harry MYERS, killed during an exbition airshow in 1921.This was a stunt-walking accident when the pilot and Harry, who was out on the wing, crashed to the ground from about 300 feet and the plane burned instantly. Does anyone know of these families?
