I am trying to find out where LeFlore Dillard was located in the 1910 and 1920 censuses. LeFlore was the son of Hamilton Josiah Dillard (b. 1830) and Elizabeth Halsey LeFlore (b. 1838), and was one of 11 children.
I found LeFlore in the 1900 census near Hewitt, OK in what was then Twp. 4 South, Range 2 West, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Here he is listed with his wife, Cora Alice (nee Floyd) and his 1st daughter Johnnie L. Dillard (b. 1898). From the Dawes Choctaw Indian rolls, Cards #3928 and #NB1251, I know that LeFlore had the following other daughters: Willie May (b. 1900) and Marie (b. 1904).
I also found LeFlore Dillard in the 1930 census. LeFlore is listed in the 1930 census index as Le Flore, with spacing between the "Le" and the "Flore". He was living at 314 W. 7th Street in Oklahoma City, OK at the time of this census, dated 3 April 1930. He is listed with four of his children: son Ted (18), daughter Jessie (16), daughter Vinita (14), and son Joe (12). LeFlore is shown as being divorced. Another daughter, Irene Vassar Dillard (b. 1906 in Belzoni, OK) was married to Clarence James Potts and was living in Durant, OK at the time of the 1930 census.
From the Chronicles of Oklahoma, Volume 6, No. 3, I found that LeFlore was the US Postmaster for Belzoni, OK as of October 20, 1905. LeFlore is also shown as the informant on the death certificate of his brother, Josiah Hamilton Dillard on September 30, 1927. At that time LeFlore's residence was listed as Ringling, OK. In between 1905-1929, I have no information on LeFlore Dillard.
LeFlore died March 12, 1966 in Los Angeles, CA and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Carter County, OK. I would also like to find an obituary for him.
Does anyone have further information about LeFlore and his family, particularly after 1900? I would especially like to locate him in the 1910 and 1920 censuses, if anyone has been able to find him.
