I am trying to locate Gilbert (Gill) Dillard and family in the 1920 census, but have been unable to find him using many variations of his name in the census index. Gill is white, male, born February 11, 1868 in Atoka, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. He is the son of Hamilton Josiah "Hamp" Dillard (1830-1883) and Elizabeth Halsey LeFlore (1838-1924), who came to Doaksville, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory from Carrollton, MS at the start of the Civil War.
I have reviewed each of the individual 1920 census images for the following districts in Carter County, OK without finding Gilbert Dillard, although several of his relatives are found in these areas: Hewitt (ED-54, ED-55, ED-239), Wilson (ED-55, ED-60), and Lone Grove (ED-54, ED-56). However, I have found that sometimes these online digital images are misfiled, so he may actually be in these enumeration districts even though the census image isn't there.
His brother Josiah Hamilton Dillard (1859-1927) was living in Ardmore, Carter County, OK in 1920.
I located Gill in the 1900 and 1910 censuses living in Hewitt, Carter County, OK, and again in the 1930 census living in Wright Township, Jefferson County, OK. However, I don't know where he was at the time of the 1920 census.
Gill died April 7, 1944 in Ardmore, Carter County, OK and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore. I would like to find a copy of his obituary if anyone has located one.
Anyone know where Gill Dillard was located in 1920, and have you found him in the 1920 census?
