I’m looking for Mary A. Robertson, known as Addie. She was born in 1874 and lived most of her life in Carter County Oklahoma. Her parents were August and Sarah Nicholson. She had four brothers I know of, John, James, Walter, and Benjamin (a newspaper obituary for her mom called them Jim, Ambrose, and W.A., from Wirt, Carter County Oklahoma).
The 1900 census shows Addie in Indian Territory married to Benjamin Stribling. Her kids were Katie and Roy. In 1902 her son Johnnie was born, and in 1903 her husband Benjamin died. She was only 29 years old with three children ages 5, 3, and 1.
The mystery is that in the 1920 census (Carter County Oklahoma) she is listed as a widowed head of house and named Addie Robertson. Her mother Sarah Nicholson and her son Johnnie Stribling were living with her. Who was the Mr. Robertson she married, and what happened to her after 1920? I can find no records. I do have a photo of her labeled Addie Robertson that was taken around 1918. She is standing next to a girl named Dorris who was said to be married to her son Jack.
Was Addie’s son Johnnie called Jack, or did Addie have another son with her new husband?
