Looking for the burial location for Hamilton Josiah "Hamp" Dillard.
Hamilton died in 1885 in Caddo, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory according to the book, A Standard History of Oklahoma by Joseph B. Thoburn, 1916. A link to that document (which is actually the bio of Hamilton's son, Josiah Hamilton Dillard) is as follows: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/books/thoburn/bios3/dillard_josiah.txthttp://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/books/thoburn/bios3/dillard_josiah.txt
Hamilton was born 27 March 1830 in Raleigh, Wake County, NC. He married Elizabeth Halsey LeFlore on 6 December 1855 in Carroll County, MS. The family moved to Indian Territory in 1861 to escape the Civil War. They settled in Doaksville in the Choctaw Nation, where Hamilton served as a county judge and also as a clerk of the county court.
Following Hamilton's death his wife Elizabeth Halsey (nee LeFlore) remarried several times, the last to Edward Uriah Simpson, and they settled in and around the Carter County, OK area. Several of the Dillard children from Hamilton and Elizabeth's marriage were prominent in this area in the early 1900's, including their son Josiah H. Dillard.
I would like to learn more about Hamilton's life in the Choctaw Nation if anyone has additional information, and I am interested in locating Hamilton's grave site (probably in or around Caddo, OK). Any help would be appreciated.
