Thank you for your reply. The John Gilmore listed in 1880 Dallas Co., Tx is my family. This John Gilmore was long thought to have moved to Palo Pinto County with his father Michael but I now suspect he did not. And, the John H. Gilmore (previously thought to be the son of Michael) of Palo Pinto County is not the same man as listed in 1880 Dallas. In 1901, Michael Gilmore of 1880 Dallas County (second wife Vileara Dennis)reported in his application for a Confederate Pension that his children were in the Indian Territory.John Gilmore and his wife Elsie and daughter Ellen were in the Chickasaw Indian Territory in 1900.I am trying to determine beyond circumstantial evidence that John of the 1900 Indian Territory census is the same man as the child John Gilmore in the family of Michael Gilmore in 1880 Dallas County, TX.
I am also looking for a first marriage for this John Gilmore, probably c1893 in Dallas County, TX.
