A singing convention that will bring together groups of full blood Indian singers from a half dozen counties in the south section of the state will be held this afternoon with the McAlester Baptist Church a half mile west of Overbrook on the line of Love and Carter counties. It has been the custom for many years for these signers to meet once a year in a contest. A pennant is awarded the winning class. A Bible conference has been in session at the McAlester Baptist Church since last Wednesday and it will close with the singing contest Sunday afternoon. These Indians are students of music. They have teachers and it is said they are apt pupils in music.
