Vinita did not exist in 1869. It was laid out in 1871 when the railroads met at what was then called Downingville. First town lots were sold in 1872. Your great grandmother probably was born in the area that was then either the Delaware or Cooweescoowee Districts which were divided by the MK&T RR which still runs through the middle of Vinita. I checked 1890 census both Indian and whites with permits. None of your names appear. Also checked marriages in the 2 districts from 1869-1901, no marriage for your James and Carpenter found.
