I'm looking for any information on my g.g. grandfather who lived and died in Craig County between 1904-1908.His name was George Washington STAMPS and he lived in Craig County in the Miles District of Indian Territory. Miles was a town/post office that existed from 29 Mar 1892-30 Sep 1935, located 11 miles north of Vinita between Centralia and Bluejacket. He lived there from 1904 until his death (uncertain, but about 1908-1909).
All I have now is a letter from the National Archives that he wrote to the War Department in 1904 listing his new address in Miles.I need any and all information that could confirm that he was there (like a land record, tax record, will, a census, etc.) and, in particular, a cemetery entry that shows where he's buried. He was a Civil War veteran (Union Army), in case that might make any difference in identifying his grave (like maybe if someone in Craig County were indexing military veterans' graves or something).REALLY appreciate any information or guidance anyone can offer on how I can track him down. Thanks much in advance. Cheers, Mike
