The Bristow News Thursday 4-11-1968 Rites Thursday for John Pitts Funeral rites will be held Thursday, April 11, at 3 pm. for John Magnus Pitts. He died Monday, April 8, at his home, 918 S. Main. The service will be at the Bristwo Free Holiness Church with the Rev. J.H. Duke of Gypsy and the Rev. Glen Z. Perry officiating. Intement will be in Bristow city Cemetery and full military honors will be held at the graveside. Bates-maples Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Members of the American Legion Post will be the pallberarers. Pitts was born September 5, 1890 at Radical, MO. and came to Creek County in 1919 from MO. He came to Bristow from Gypsy in 1959. Pitts married Lucy Mae Little on March 14, 1916 at Galena, MO. He was a veteran of WWI, a retired farmer and a member of the HOliness Church. Survivors are the widow, of the home, three daughters, Mrs. Melvina HOlman, Shafter, CA, Mrs. Geneva Yocum, Bakersfield, CA, Mrs. Mary Lee Baker, Cildale, CA: Five sons, James R. Pitts, Rio Grande, CA, George Willard Pitts, Yukon, John M. Pitts, Oklahoma City, Jimmy A. Pitts, Grove, and Dee Coy Pitts, Milfay. Also two brothers, Mart Pitts, Stroud, Albert Pitts, Lampe, MO. one sister, Mrs. Eliza Little, Ozark, MO: 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
