Great to see your posting. Lottie McDown was my great aunt, although I never personally knew her. My maternal grandmother, Celeste Pearl McDown, was Aunt Lottie's (as I always heard her referred to) youngest sister.Lottie's real name was Charlotte, my great grandfather John McDown, wanted all his daughters to have beautiful names, but he didn't always know how to pronounce them correctly, as a result, she was called "Charlottie" instead of Charlotte, and thus the abreviated name was Lottie.
I knew Thursa Stephens, and enjoyed her wonderful personality on several occassions. Although she was my grandmother's neice, they were very close in age, since Celeste (she went by Letty) was born in 1898, (died in 1988).I never knew James Stephens, but my father, who is still living, knew him, and I will ask his remembrances. I can give you other bits of information about the McDown's (they were of Scottish decent, being a part of the McDowell Clan). If this is useful information, let me know and I will tell all I know.
