My husband and I are planning a September trip to Custer Co and we hope we can get some badly needed advice.
We were in Custer Co. 3 yr ago and found my husband's great grandmother Vesta Lou Springfield Huddleston (d:31 Dec 1906) buried in Butler Cemetery.Fortunately I had done research before the trip because there were only initials marking her grave. She is buried beside her husband John L. Huddleston d:10 Oct 1901.
1) My husband and I want to place a small marker w/her name and birth and death dates there. We do not want to remove the original, just place the new one beside it.Do we have to get permission to do this? From who?Do you know the telephone number so I could call them?
2) Do you know a good monument company in Clinton area I could call?
3) While we are there we would like to look at any old records available.Does the library have 1900 census records?Would the courthouse in Butler have old probate records?Seems like we went to a courthouse but wasn't in Butler, some town between Butler and Clinton.
We will be very grateful for any advice you may give us.
