I have not been able to trace the Claud Davis of 1910 Grady Co. OK, but I have found information about the couple with whom he was living.
HeritageQuest has the Head of the Household indexed as Albert L. Sowders, 28, b. MO.That is a name that can easily be spelled in different ways.He was Albert L. Souders. His wife, Maude Souders, was born in MO.I have learned that her maiden name was Davis.
This couple is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Minco, Grady Co. OK. Here is a link to Grady County cemeteries:
http://www.okcemeteries.net/grady/grady.htmhttp://www.okcemeteries.net/grady/grady.htm
HOWEVER, they died in San Bernardino Co. CA.Their son, Carl, also died there. From the California Death Index is this information:
Carl Estell Souders, b. 5 Jan 1909, OK, d. 23 Oct. 1986, San Bernardino Co. CA.His mother’s maiden name is shown as Davis.
Further information from the CA Death Index, San Bernardino Co:
Albert L. Souders, b. 9 May 1882, MO, d. 17 June 1977
Maude Estelle Souders, b. 25 Jan 1886, MO, d. 27 Dec. 1980.Her father’s name is shown as Davis, her mother’s maiden name as Vaughn.(I still think there is a good possibility that this is the sister of your Claude Earl Davis.Perhaps they did not have the same mother.)
I did not find this family after the 1910 Oklahoma census, but they spent time in Texas as well as California. The SSDI shows that both Albert Souders and his son, Carl Souders, received their SS # issued in TX.Maude’s was issued in California.
When you look at the Evergreen Cemetery record in Grady Co., you will see that Maude’s birth date is shown as 25 Jun 1886, rather than Jan.I think this is a misprint. All the other dates match the California Death records and the SSDI for this couple.I have wondered why they were brought back to Grady Co. OK for burial. There must have been family there.
In the1910 Grady Co. census it has the information that Albert and Maude (Davis) Sowders/Souders had been married 5 years.I do not have a subscription to Ancestry.com, but in their online index I found that Albert L. Souders married Maude Davis in MO. That brief online index does not have the year or location.(That requires the subscription.) You might try posting a message in the message board for the state of Missouri, asking for help in finding that marriage record.
I am not related but live in Oklahoma and like to help when I can.I think this is a good clue to follow as being a good possibility as Claude Earl’s sister.Good luck.
