I am looking for information about D.M. PROSSER who is pictured in a photograph, probably made around 1900, with this inscription stamped on the back:
"D.M. Prosser The Rawleigh Man Snyder, Okla"
The photograph shows a man standing beside a four-wheel, horse-drawn vehicle. He is holding what looks like a sample case. The picture was made out on the open prairie, with no houses or other structures in view.
The words "Rawleigh Remedies / Pure Flavoring Extract / Pure Ground Spices" are written on side of the closed-in cab of the vehicle.
The man could possibly be Dock M. Prosser, son of Mark A. and Louisa Jane Leftwich Prosser, born in 1865 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.
Dock was a brother of my grandmother, May Etta Prosser Whitaker, and the picture was among material I inherited from her, but I don't have any information about Dock to confirm that he is the person in the picture.
If anyone can give me a clue about this man's identity, I would appreciate it.I'll be glad to send you a copy of the photo if you'll email me off list.
