Good to hear from a new "cousin". No, I have not been able to find any documented proof of where Hugh GORDEN/GORDON was born or the identity of his parents.Family tradition has suggested Scotland, Ireland or England, but for now it is still a mystery.I have been concentrating on finding out more about the people who were linked to Hugh Gorden and the family of Nathaniel OWENS in King George Co and Fauquier Co., VA.I have a fairly good understanding of where Hugh lived in K.G. Co., and his neighbours there, but in Fauquier he left no record of land purchase or lease, so I have only a general idea of where his land was located (in the area between Warrenton and Marshall, VA).I hope that by identifying more of his neighbours I might be able to find useful information in their family records. I have had more luck with Nathaniel OWENS and believe I will be able to identify his farm, which is located very close to the Eastern border of the town of Warrenton. My current effort is to see if I can identify the maiden name of Nathaniel OWENS' wife/wives by researching the various MARDERS of Virginia.Nathaniel had a step-daughter named Elizabeth MARDERS, but I have yet to determine if MARDERS was her father's name or that of a husband.I hope we can push back the OWENS side of the family one more generation if we can identify Nathaniel's wife. I now live in Fauquier County and have access to the local records, so I think my biggest contribution will be to mine the information in this area. Again, glad to hear from a new cousin.Keep in touch.
